Top Baby Names in Australia 2018

The most popular baby names in Australia in 2018 were topped by Charlotte and Oliver.

At first glance, the Australian Top 100 looks a lot like the popularity charts from England and US. Along with Charlotte, the most popular names for girls in Australia include Olivia, Amelia, Ava, and Mia. Along with Jack, the top names for boys in Australia include William, Jack, Noah, and Thomas.

However, the Australian Top 100 has some unique names that sets it apart from the American and British lists. For girls, Indiana, Frankie, Billie, and Lara make the list, and Lachlan, Hamish, Darcy, and Jett all chart for boys.

Another difference with Australia’s popularity list—alternate spellings of names are combined, which leads to pairings such as Lily/Lilly and Jackson/Jaxon ranking higher than they otherwise would on their own, the way you’d see them on the US charts.
