The Top Ten service can also work if you have a long list of names you're trying to narrow down to the Top Ten. Sophie Kihm is Nameberry’s Name Guru to the Stars and has advised celebrities (and other parents!) about baby names since 2015. She’s been featured in publications including the Huffington Post and People, and her writing has appeared in Today, the Huffington Post, and Considerable.
In addition to her job as a name expert, Sophie is a therapist in Chicago specializing in perinatal mood disorders including anxiety, depression, and OCD. She primarily works with parents on issues related to pregnancy and parenting (which occasionally means talking about baby names).
Sophie takes an interdisciplinary approach to names and naming. She considers the psychology, history, sociology, statistics, and creativity of names, which informs her work as a consultant.
Emma Waterhouse is Nameberry’s resident expert on British names and trends. Her writing on baby names has been featured in Today, Motherly, and the Huffington Post. As Community Manager of our buzzing baby names forum since 2018, she has advised hundreds of prospective parents on where and how to find that perfect name.
A linguist by background, Emma speaks several foreign languages and graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Russian and Polish. As such, she has a special interest in the origin and history of names, as well as in the process of cross-cultural naming.
Emma lives in beautiful rural England with her husband and three young children.
Pamela Redmond, the cocreator and CEO of Nameberry, is one of the world’s leading experts on first names. Redmond is the coauthor with Linda Rosenkrantz of ten ground-breaking books on names, starting with Beyond Jennifer & Jason, published in 1988, and including Cool Names for Babies and The Baby Name Bible. She is also the cocreator of the new name-searching tool, Baby Name DNA.
