Best of Our Best Baby Names

We’re heading into the home stretch for taking advantage of our pay-what-you-want offer to access our big, juicy, comprehensive compendium of names for girls and boys, The Nameberry Guide to the Very Best Baby Names for a price you set yourself. Here are just a few examples of the varied kinds of names you’ll find among the 1200+ we’ve picked as the best on our site, from classic to the current.

Djuna

An interesting, arty name with a Bohemian feel thanks to novelist Djuna Barnes, whose dad invented it. The silent D pronunciation (JOON-a) puts her right in step with all the trendy other JUN names—Juno, Jude, Juniper and Jupiter—all of which, of course, are included in the book.

Sylvie is a name that makes me happy. I love that it’s a Nameberry favorite and not (yet) well-used by the general public.

Get out of my head nameberry! Declan was unheard of when I named my son. It was down in the high 400s. Then I named him & boom, it raced up the charts! Now we’ve contemplated Zinnia (total unknown, no one ever uses this!) and Sylvie (sweet, classic, but so underused!) has been on my short list forever. Now here they are, you are destined to drive up the popularity of all my unusual name loves! 🙂

The three that I would use from the list are Edmund (one of my long-time favourites), Jane, and Sylvie.

Can a baby photo make me love a name even more than I already do? Yep, I’m loving the gorgeous Sylvie photo! I predict that baby is going to be a heart-breaker when she grows up!

All of these babies are seriously adorable! Sylvie and Geneva are breathtaking! I love that Edmund made the cut!!!(my LO’s name) Orion? Yes. I think I like it. I normally Greek or mythology names are not my style, they just seem like too much name, i.e. Athena or Ares etc but I’m digging Orion. I think these cute babes are winning me over on every name on this list. Oh and Boaz? I didm’ “get” that name before, but i’m seeing the light. Great post today:)

I just noticed that Sylvie’s photo has changed to another baby. Any reason why?

I like Sylvie, Geneva and Millicent.. The others are just plain not my style and I’d never use them! Ugh!

Mischa–There was a misunderstanding and that turned out to be a private photo.

@linda – ok, that’s a good reason. Thanks for replying to my question.
