The name Taylor is a girl's name of English origin meaning "tailor".

Taylor is one of the prime unisex surnames used for girls and has also been a soap opera favorite. Tatertotter19 Says:

This is my name, I'm a girl, and I hate it, everyone is named Taylor, it gets old and it's ver much overused. Save your kids the headache and don't name them Taylor.

Ntspice Says:

This is my birth name. I have always hated it, even when I went through my tomboy phase. I always thought it was: 1. too common, 2. too plain 3. too masculine. Of all the friends I have, the most common name is Taylor (tied with Danielle) and about 3/4 of those are guys. I go by my middle name, Noelle, and intend to legally change my name after I graduate (and the paperwork won't be so difficult). Side note: My most common nickname as Taylor was Taylor Tot (like Tater Tot) and as Noelle it's Noes/Elle/Ellie

hermioneameliastyles Says:

I like the name Taylor. I prefer it on a girl. I really, really like it, it's so cute and less common now then in the 90's.

kxlly0614 Says:

It might not be my favorite name, but I still think its cute, spunky and I can imagine this name on a tomboy.

AlexxisLynn Says:

Hate it, it doesn't have nice sound at all. I also am not a fan of the meaning-"tailor",seriously? I believe in naming your child something meaningful, like Asher, which means luck. Just not a fan of it all around.

Jessica Says:

Taylor Swift was born in 1989? It was common in the 90s and early 2000s.

Saffron_Rice Says:

I don't get the appeal of this surname as a girl's first name. Tahlia is prettier imho.

chlardmarham Says:

That's a good point. It depends on where you live. I know quite a few girls with the name where I live though

Theodora_Phoenix Says:

Taylor is not a bad name in general but I'm a bit tired of it. It's so common around where I live

bustedhoney Says:

It depends on where you live. I've never met anyone called Taylor.

bustedhoney Says:

Cinnamon is a name? Ewwwwwwwwww.

enjc2802 Says:

My best friend's name is Taylor!

Taylor_23 Says:

Oh, and it also isn't a bad name just because people agree/disagree that it is a boy/girl name

Taylor_23 Says:

on other websites, people are saying that Taylor Is a bad name because of someone they know, first of all, im my own person I don't like to be grouped together with the rest of Taylor's in the world. Also, you don't need some great god name to have a good name. If you think about it, if there weren't any tailors (the meaning of Taylor) in the world, there wouldn't be any clothes. just because its common it doesn't make it a bad name. Sorry that Taylor is such a great name it got popular.
T is for TALENTED, gifted with abilities

eveyalecia Says:

My sister's name is Taylor and she HATES it. She was almost named Natalie, and she says she would have vastly preferred that. It probably doesn't help that she was born in 1995, right at the height of its popularity.

eveyalecia Says:

Yes, it was. Sorry.

jzerilli Says:

Wasn't common when I named my daughter that in 2000 - darn Taylor Swift!!
