Libra Baby Names Strike a Balance
Libra is the sign of balance, and Libra baby names are well-balanced themselves. Names for Libra babies are hardly too dramatic in their presentation — the most popular among them tend toward classic rather than ultra-trendy, while the rarer ones are largely familiar.
In 2020, children with a birthday between September 22nd and October 22nd will be born under the sun sign of Libra. Libras are innately concerned with equality and justice, both of which can serve as inspiration for your Libra child’s name. Isaeus, Nazira, and Justice itself are among the many options.
Libra is the second of three air signs, so a name that means air could be ideal for a Libra daughter or son. Additionally, you may consider names connected to one of Libra’s many symbols, such as roses, daisies, jade, the color green, and the planet Venus.
Libra is symbolized by the scales, which represent harmony and justice. As baby names, both Harmony and Justice rank within the Top 600. Harmony is at an all-time high in 2019 at Number 169, and Justice ranks nearly equally for each gender — Number 578 for girls and Number 598 for boys.
Other top Libra names include those inspired by the flowers and gemstones associated with the zodiac sign. Roses and daisies are known to be connected to Libra, and Rose and Daisy are two of the most common floral names. We expect that latter to rise after the arrival of Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s daughter Daisy Dove.
Libra’s gemstones include jade and opal. Jade has been holding steady in rank since the early 2000s, hovering slightly below the Top 100. It’s the second most popular girl name in France. Opal, meanwhile, has been one of the fastest rising girl names in recent years. It reemerged on the Top 1000 in 2017 and is Number 679 in 2019.
Libra names for girls abound thanks to the sign’s connections to beauty and love. Names that mean beautiful should be high on your list for a Libra daughter, as the sign of the scales is said to have a keen eye for aesthetics and beauty. Worthy options include Ingrid, Cosima, and Zuri.
Libra’s ruling planet is Venus, named for the goddess of love. Of the many wonderfully named love deities, we especially like the Irish Aine, Sumerian Inanna, and Lithuanian Milda for current baby name inspiration. You could also choose a name that means love, such as Kerensa or Priya.
Notable Libra women with names worth considering include Mae Jemison, the first Black woman in Space, tennis icon Serena Williams, actress Brie Larson, and congressional pioneer Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Here, a selection of the best names for Libra girls:
Libra is the seventh zodiac sign of twelve, making any name connected to the lucky number a suitable choice for a Libra son. Seven was actually one of the fastest-rising names of the year for both boys and girls and broke into the Top 1000 on the boys’ side at Number 998. Much of the increased usage can be attributed to the 2018 film The Hate U Give, which also featured a character named Sekani — the name that made the biggest leap in rank for boys in 2019.
Featured below, our favorite Libra names for boys:
Libra is an air sign, and there are many unique air-related names that would be excellent on a Libra child. Celestia is a romantic, ethereal choice for a daughter, and Rabi is a soft Arabic boy name meaning “gentle wind.” Coro, a Native American name, could easily be used for either gender.
Along with airy names and green names, other rare Libra baby names we love include more harmonious names such as Concordia and Yamato, as well as September — a unique month name inspired by the first month that Libra inhabits.
Unique Libra baby names were given to fewer than 40 babies in 2019. Here, our curated selection of the best:

I’ve always felt like the textbook definition of a Libra all the way down to my name – Justine! While my mom definitely didn’t plan it that way I feel that it was a great choice for a Libra baby.
