My cousin just named her son Colt. It's very fitting because she loves horses.

Syndicate Says:

My name has been colt for 29 years my dad named me that not after the gun but i believe after a really old western. However I've been a jock, the macho, the caring, I've been everything. I love the name .

Heather Ann Says:

Our 2nd son is named Colt and I've been in love with it since we said it for the first time when coming up with a baby name over two years ago. There are two drawbacks to this name though...
1) Our firstborn is named Peyton and so folks think we are diehard Indianapolis Colts fans (oops didn't think that one through but I suppose if we had to be fans of a team that wouldn't be a horrible one to support) and
2) We purposely named him Colt...just Colt. The names Colton and Coulter grate on our ears so we specifically wanted the short, to the point name. Despite being short and simple to say, folks always feel inclined to add to his name and call him by one of those two. I've given up correcting people but it does annoy the heck out of me.

Overall Colt is the perfect name for a brute and a gentleman-- which our tot is shaping up to be.

I used to be indifferent to this name, but I like it now. The association with horses is cute and it makes a good nickname for Colton, one of my favourite boy names.

This is my husband's name and I love it. He wears it perfectly: a gentle giant who is a diesel mechanic and a damn good shot! The year he was born (1985) his name was #528 on the SS name list, so his parents were ahead of the curve. :)

Kara Says:

We picked Colt out for our son & absolutely LOVE it! I was unsure how people would react, but its went over so well! They put Colt .45 and baby colts with, which I dont mind since we are outdoorsy people and his late grandfather adored horses. Aside from a 1-2 people that thought Colt, was short for Colton. It couldnt fit him any better. If he was blonde it was suppose to be Colt, and Bode for a brunette. Glad I changed my hubby's mind :D

lesliemarion Says:

I don't hear it as cult though I do not like the gun association. But! I love the young horse association.

I think this name is so cool but my only caveat is that it can sound like cult. BUUUUT if one puts emphasis on the o like in cold then that wouldn't be a problem. :)

Giinkies Says:

I think it's cool sounding name, but I do associate it heavily with guns and it does turn me off of the name.

CocoWhite Says:

Sounds too much like "cult" to me. I'd go with Colton instead.
