Expecting a spring baby? After a long, snowy winter, a seasonal nature name celebrates all new life. The possibilities are endless, but here are a dozen of the best. All of them work as bold first names or surprising middles. Two bonuses: many of them are unisex, and none of them currently rank in the US Top 500.


Every spring, thousands of cherry blossom trees in Washington DC bloom for just a few short weeks. The trees were originally a gift from Japan in 1912. The Japanese call them sakura, and they’re considered a national symbol. In both countries, they’re a powerful signal that spring has arrived. It’s a common name in Japan, and a number of anime characters answer to Sakura.
