Easter Baby Names: The best bunny-inspired names

Have you ever wondered how the bunny rabbit came to be associated with Easter and how the connection became so entrenched?  Well, it relates more to pagan folklore than Christian iconography, dating back to 13th century Germany and worship of the Teutonic deity Eostra, the goddess of spring and fertility, who was honored by feasts on the Vernal Equinox.  Her symbol was the rabbit, because of the animal’s fecundity.  Which just might inspire you to consider a famous bunny’s name for your Easter baby.  These range from the classic to the comical.

Peter

We have to start with Peter, as this is the name associated with not one but two iconic bunnies: Peter Rabbit and Peter Cottontail. And Peter feels like a classic ready to hop back into higher popularity, with its biblical background, many hero namesakes, and warm, pleasant sound.

These aren’t bunny names, but there are also:

Pascua- Spanish for “easter.”
Anastasia- means “resurrection.”

These aren’t bunny names, but there are also:

Pascal/Pascua: The first means “Easter”; the second is literally “Easter” in Spanish.
Anastasia: Means “resurrection.”

Also, just FYI it’s actually not Cecily but Cicely Tyson.

What do you mean you won’t “hold that against the name” Hazel? Watership Down is an amazing novel and the character Hazel is fantastic. That would be a good name inspiration.
