Saffron is surprisingly soft considering its spice meaning and roots. Quirky, and maybe trying a bit too hard to be so. It's not my favorite name, but it's not bad at all.

paulapuddephatt Says:

Saffy is super cute. I used to watch Ab Fab. She was a great character. Saffy is a lovely, more unusual Sophie alternative, as you said. I love it. 😃 Xxx

JossieChris Says:

Ab Fab junkie! Been a fan of this since the 90's. Love Nn Saffy! Way cuter than Sophie. And being a Spanish spice which is my heritage. More precious than gold is the big seller. Nobody else liked it so I passed but I still love it and appreciate others that do as well.

I named my daughter Saffron after my father who sadly passed away his name was Ronald, Ron for short. We wanted a name which contained his name and Saffron was my favourite! :)

Sugar and spice and all things nice that's what little girls are made of.

I am naming my upcoming daughter Saffron. I think it's unique and beautiful. Awhile ago I found a link that traces the name to ancient Persia. There it meant, most rare, most valuable, and with golden petals. All are lovely meanings I think.

RoddyThlayli Says:

I really like the name Saffron. The only time I've ever heard it is in a Firefly episode.

Zoey_Artemisia Says:

Same haha, I used to love this name when I was about seven.

Chimaera88 Says:

We picked this name for our upcoming April baby and while I love the name I had a bit of hesitation about it because it has no meaning, and I really like good meanings for names. A couple weeks after we picked the name, before we'd told anyone, we had a birthday dinner with a chef friend who received a jar of saffron as a gift. As she was discussing it with people she commented that it, as a spice, is, "more valuable(by weight) than gold". It was a lovely comment and my husband and I exchanged a smiling glance and I knew that "more precious than gold" would become the meaning of Saffron, for me at least. :)

PoppyOrangey Says:

"I'm just mad about saffron
A-saffron's mad about me
I'm-a just mad about saffron
She's just mad about me"

When I was little, this was one of my favourite names. I still think it's fine, but my taste has changed a lot since then.
