I probably would have thought it was weird had I not known of Sutton Foster. She's so great that it makes me love the name. With the -on ending it fits more as a boy's name but I can only think of it as a girl's name.

I think Cotton (b) and Sutton (g) would be an adorable sib set or twins!

Sutherland is much nicer, though I'd like it for a boy instead of a girl.

So plain and heavy sounding...reminds me of Sloane.

I want to love this name, but the "slut" nickname potential ruins it for me. =(

Objectively I understand the appeal of this name but something just totally turns me off about it. I wouldn't mind seeing a little Sutton, though!

Names are all about what you associate them with...I never gave much thought to the name Sutton until I met a cool friend named Sutton...now I think it's a great name. However, I would have hated it previously...I like the frilly, elaborate ending-with-a names

Agreed - It's not even pleasant sounding

I really don't see the appeal? And I don't see the relation to Sloane at all.

I don't like it on either gender at all, though it's better on a boy. It reminds me of Mutton.

I'm still getting used to Sutton a boy... Not sure I can like it on a girl yet.

I really prefer the Sutherland variation. I'm trying to decide how I feel about this though (I like it equally for both genders). My ex lived on a street called Sutton so that makes me want to hate it :(
