I like the sound of Camden as well as the appealing nickname Cam, but the spelling and the way it looks on paper looks rather awkward and clunky to me because of the -md- part in the middle, and it doesn't "flow" as well as similar-sounding Cameron. Camden does sound surprisingly trendy despite its roots and I can see how it would be appealing to parents today.
Personally, I don't quite like it; I associate it too much with Camden, New Jersey (which is not a great area), and the sound of it makes it equivalent to Hampton as a baby name to me (it has the same concept!). I'd go with Cameron instead.

My cousin Camden (who is three) was named after the area of London because his parents lived there! He is Camden Heathcliff (Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush is his mother's favourite song). I think it's great for a boy, we all call him Cam or Cammie.

Google Camden, NJ. Then perhaps reconsider.

I love the name Camden for a boy. I've liked it since visiting the seaside town in downeast Maine (my home state) when I was a child. There's a peaceful serenity about that location, and the nn Cam would be an easy association.

Really really dislike this name. To me it sounds harsh and awkward. Whether or not it actually has older roots, Camden sounds like a name made up to be on trend, like Cameron combined with Jaden or Aiden with clunkier results. It gets even worse with spellings like Kamdyn.

It's better than Cameron to me. I also like London on a boy.
