Very common name. Not very pretty. Goes along with the Melissas and Jennies.

Aquitaine3 Says:

I'm a Nicole and I enjoy my name. I grew up with my father and siblings calling me 'Nikki' or 'Nick', but I do not allow anyone else besides my family to call me by my nicknames.

One tip for anyone considering this name- please don't spell it with an 'h.'

Aquitaine3 Says:

I'm a Nicole and your first comment made my day, LOL. It's not true, but boy did that have me laughing!

Aquitaine3 Says:

Amen! I have had people spell my name with an 'h' numerous times. How does that make any sense at all??

Nicole Says:

I hated my name growing up and still am not keen on it. I live with it though as that is what I was called, but if I could I would probably swap my name around to be a Katherine or Kat instead.

Niccccc Says:

My names Nicole, I used to not like it when I was younger but now I love it! I get a lot of compliments, especially clubbing, it gets a lot of boys attention and the most common comment is "that's a sexy/fit name". And I don't think it's that common for my age group, nor is it one of those modern names that seem 'made up'. Quite classy and traditional but not boring (quite like me)! TIMELESS

paulapuddephatt Says:

That's what puts me off Nicolette, too.

paulapuddephatt Says:

I don't like Nicola much anyway, the way it gets pronounced here in UK - Nic-uh-luh. If people said Ni-cole-uh here, as they seem to in USA, it would be nicer.

sparkleflaame Says:

Nicolette is pretty but when I look at it I just see the word the gum that helps you get off of cigarettes.

Catherine Rose Says:

I can't believe this is still in the top 1000 let alone in the top 200. IMO it is so dated.

Nicole4383 Says:

This is my name. I'm ok with it. There was always at least 1 or 2 other Nicoles in my class when I was growing up. But, now as an adult I don't really come across too many. My only complaint is when people spell my name with an H...can't stand it.

Nicole Ivonne Says:

My name is Nicole and through out all of my childhood I only ever knew one other Nicole. Then I went to college and met like three other Nicole's. It was so odd because I wasn't used to meeting people with my name. I knew my name was "popular", but because I never met many people with it I didn't believe that it was on the popular side of names.

I was named Nicole because my grandfather's name was Nicholas Ivo. So, my parents named me Nicole Ivonne (pronounced like Yvonne). I never thought my name was that fantastic until I got older and met people who thought my name was beautiful. haha!

Also, I absolutely can't stand the nickname Nicky/Nikki (however you want to spell it). When ever somebody tries to call me that I just cringe.

NicV Says:

This is my name. Although it was supposedly very popular in the 70's and 80's, I was the only Nicole in a graduating class of 600+, and I only knew 1 other Niki in college. I never cared for it too much, but always liked that I met so few women with the same name. Side note - I can't stand when people spell it Nichole, and I love people who pronounce it properly (NEE'-col) w/emphasis on the first syllable and a softer "o".

Guest Says:

I think Nicole has lost its luster and in my experience, Nicoles aren't nice. I love Nicolina and Nicolette/Nicoletta instead--much fresher!

nike8004 Says:

This is my name, and I'm taking strides to change it - in the U.S. it's *extremely* overused, I was born in 1997 and have never been in a class without another Nicole or Nikki/Nicki; in my neighborhood of 100 houses, the two houses across the street from me are both lived in by Nicoles who are the exact same age as me... It's pretty enough I suppose, but it lacks any "wow" factor and any sort of uniqueness since it's so especially overdone. The nicknames Nikki/Nicki/Nicky are also not very feminine in my opinion

jordalini Says:

I think this name is dated, and I am really tired of hearing it, but then again it could be because I never met a Nicole that I liked.

Kevin Harrington Says:

Avoid the form Nicola because it is already the male from of the name Nicholas, in Italian; likewise Andrea is Andrew. Everyone travels nowadays and such names will create problems. I like to keep the French esprit of Nicole by pronouncing it Nee-cull not Nee-COAL

SparkleNinja18 Says:

This is a nice name and I love it for a middle but I would never be able to get over the girl with this name who bullied me from kindergarten until second grade when we were finally not put in the same class.

Theodora_Phoenix Says:

It's my middle name. :)

morg215 Says:

I really don't think Nicole is dated. It's still very pretty in my opinion, and a great middle name. I find it charming and suitable for all ages.
