I think this is a nice, no-nonsense name. Not sure whether I like this or the Mack spelling better. This one feels a bit more youthful and edgy, while Mack feels a bit more solid and mature.

My son's middle name is McGuire & we call him Mac (his first name is the same as my husband's & we wanted to avoid the "Big & little" syndrome). Always surprised how positively people respond to his nickname-they always like it.
