About Malin
The sleek Malin is a contracted form of Magdalene or Madeleine, used in Sweden, Norway, and Switzerland. A popular choice back in the 2000s, it has declined in popularity in recent years, but it remains a concise and appealing choice.

It may also be used as a Chinese name, combining Ma ("horse") and Lin ("forest", "fine jade"), or a unisex choice, used as a masculine form of the Slavic Malina ("raspberry") or a Northern English name meaning "little warrior".
Malin for boys
An international and unisex choice, Malin is a rare northern English name associated with the city of Sheffield. In this case, it would mean "little warrior". As a Bulgarian choice, it is a masculine form of Malina, a Slavic name meaning "raspberry". It is more common as a feminine name, however, as a contracted form of Magdalene and Madeleine.
Pronounced MAH-lin.
As of October 2026, Malin ranked #7020 in US births in 2025 SSA, peaked at #2699 in 2012.
