Gender: Female Origin of Snow: English word name

Snow Origin and Meaning

The name Snow is a girl's name of English origin.

There's definitely a cold front of names for winter babies moving in, with Summer, Spring and Autumn giving way to Winter--plus North, January, Frost--and Snow. This name feels brisk, fresh, pure, evocative -- and magical. A haunting middle name choice.

Rare as a first name, there have been several notable surnamed Snows--including singers Hank and Phoebe, and scientist/novelist C.P. And then there's the dreamy Jon Snow in Game of Thrones.

Beautiful name and it may be my new favourite! I think it works with any aged lady, and my whole family love it so it's definitely a contender when I'm eventually expecting!

I will add if you are considering this as a baby name do not listen to the criticism you may receive. So many people opposed our decision to name our daughter Snow they said "you can't name a baby THAT! or THATS not a real name!" People even tried to name her for us by calling her "Emma Gracie" the entire pregnancy. It was very annoying but it's mostly older generations that so openly opposed it. Now that she's here she's my little Snow angel and people can't see her name being any different. She is a Snow 100%.

We chose the name Snow for our daughter back in October. As we were between Raven and Snow my entire pregnancy, we got the names from books and are also fans of Once (as we so often get asked). She was conceived on a snow day, and when I saw her for the first time I knew it was her name. My husband agreed. The feeling we got when we saw her was similar to that when you first look out the window on a snowy morning, absolutely beautiful, gentle, peaceful and calm. Like her name she is unique, we have never met another Snow or heard of anyone using it and everyone who sees her is taken back by her beauty and personality ❤❤❤ We couldn't have chosen a better name for our little girl. Everyone agrees it absolutely suits her. Full name is Snow Evana Rexrode (Snow as in beautiful, peaceful but powerful) (Evana as in precious gift from God and little fighter as we were told we'd never conceive she was certainly a gift her middle name came to me in a pregnancy dream three days before she was born the baby talked to me and told me her middle name was Evana so we kept that name not knowing the meaning until much later)

I'm sure it's just me, but Snow makes me think of the drug reference...

I honestly love this name - it's one of my favorite nature names. I think it has a very fresh, clear, elegant sound to it - and compared (no offense intended) to the Renesmees and Whizdoms out there, Snow will sound pretty professional and grown-up in comparison.
