Raiden

The name of the Japanese god of thunder makes an assertive choice, very much at home in the Western world. Because of the name's similarity to popular baby names Aiden and Jayden, most people will pronounce it RAY-den, but it's more properly RYE-den.

It's popularity in The US and The UK might stem from it being considered a spelling variant of invented name Rayden, a blending of classic Ray with the popular -den suffix. In such case, it could be said to mean "small ray of light", "valley of light", or "little wise one", depending on which etymological roots you choose to follow.

Given to around 750 boys in a recent year, it is joined by Rayden in the US charts.
