We named our son Ludovic born this year after his cajun french great grandfather. Although my grandfather was called Dovic for short, we call our son Ludo as is common in France. People always think German when they hear it at first but I have only ever known it to be a French or Scottish name.

Ludovic's a very flamboyant, unusual-eccentric 17th century artist/ great figure name to me. I can see this name being Euro-hipster when a certain kind of international jetsetting couple uses it on their baby. I think of Ludovic Speed from Anne of Green Gables, as yvonne_virginia pointed out, or Ludo Bagman from Harry Potter- I'm pretty sure his full name is Ludovic? :b
