I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't like this name. It's just too bland for me.

My name is Julie. I'm 27. I only ever knew one girl who had the same name as me. I'm an introvert, I have brown hair, and I'm short, and bad at sports. I feel like Julie is my name, but the image I have of "Julie" when I read it is someone tall, blond, and good at soccer, with a bubbly, friendly personality. I think it's a great sweet spot name, but people always called me Julia by mistake growing up.

Julie is more youthful and succinct sounding than "Julia" or "Juliette" which sound stuffy. Not common yet people have heard it which is two of my criteria in names.

I think Julie is the prettiest of the Julie names, such as Julia, Juliette, etc - although I like them all. By the time I was at school in the 80s, there wasn't much difference between the popularity of Julie and Julia. I don't know why there is this kind of feeling about the names, that Julie is so much less usable than the others nowadays, just because it enjoyed a period of popularity in recent history. It would make a beautiful baby name, now that it is somewhat less popular, but still as lovely as ever.

A mi tambien :o) una de mis hijas se llama Julie y a ella le encanta su nombre.

Not necessarily , actually Julie is the English form of Julia in Spanish. Julie sounds softer and nicer than Julia (more strong sound), Juliet is too linked with the novel.

I'm very fond of the name Julie - it's my mum's name, but it's also a name that would suit a baby born today. The nickname Jooles is wonderful!

I LOVE Julie! I like it much better than Julia, personally. I like Juliet, but it is very heavily tied to the romantic heroine - for better or worse, depending on your perspective. I imagine a Julie as somebody pretty, friendly, humble and unaffected, while Julia feels too 'on a pedestal' to me. Just my opinion.

I also think this is a little biased. It's almost as if someone named Julia, Juliet, or Juliana wrote this.

I honestly think that Juliana is much less stylish than Julie. One of my best friend's name is Julie, and even she thinks it's much better than the stuck-up Julia or Juliet.

The name Julie needs to be noticed. People are calling their daughters Julia and Juliet and even Juliana, while Julie is such a pretty, jewel-like, and elegant name. It sounds VERY stylish to me.

I recently had a wealthy client whose 18 year old daughter was named Julie. It was pleasantly surprising, and she probably doesn't have to share the name with anyone in her classes at school.

Maybe YOU don't think Julie is stylish, but it was to enough people to get it to the 400's on the popularity list. If parents desire to name their child Julie, they should go for it. : )
