ParanoidAndroid Says:

Jake’s an easy-going, tough, yet gentle name that still feels fresh, despite its most popular reign in the mid 19th century-early 20th century. Meeting someone just named Jake is much more rare than you’d expect too. In 2019, the chances of meeting a baby Jake is about the same as you meeting a baby Walter, Raymond, Tobias, Walker, or Emerson. It’s a shame that most people assume a Jake is a “Jacob”. And it’s a shame Jacob is so popular and Jake serves as the nickname. I can see why Jake is experiencing some declivity right now. It’d get so annoying having to explain to everyone that your name isn’t the stodgy, mucky, ugly slump of a name like Jacob. It’s a damn shame. Jake Paul doesn’t help much either, but surely he’ll be old news in the next few years. Bottom line: Great, vintage name that’s becoming rarer- BUT it comes with the cost of being confused for Jacob.

Love this name. I personally do like Jacob, with Jake for short, but tend to prefer just Jake on its own.

For some reason, Jake sounds like a miscellaneous teenage boyfriend to me. I have honestly no idea why, though.
