Yes, it does mean "floor" in German, but another translation for the word Boden is "ground." This makes me think of a man who stands on solid ground, unwavering in his determination, and dedication. Not ground like the earth, though. Earth in German is "Erde." Maybe "Boden" just refers to that which is beneath us, upon which we stand and build. I enjoy thinking of it that way.
