Black Francis is his stage name, he was born Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV. Apparently Black Francis was a name that his father was saving in case he had another son. Anyway, to me he'll always be Frank Black.

Well, I've never heard of him...but that aside, you're right. I'm talking about the average, everyday kid in school.

Black Francis hasn't been teased, but I guess because he's a rock star--so he's glorified.

He will be teased. There's no way he wouldn't be teased, no matter what race he is.

It's not offensive.

I think that for any "color name" to work, you must step outside the original box of 8 or so (at at least the first row)! ;-). Meaning red, brown white, yellow, black, purple, pink, and green just don't work. Apparently Blue does! Ha.

In reality, no one in this world is black. There are only brown-skinned people.

No, not ok. Not a good name. IMO.

You can't be Sirius if you say you want to use this name.

Two problems:
a) The Harry Potter reference
b) an outdated, mildly-offensive term for African Americans.
So try, I don't now, Sterling? It's kind of a color name because of the silver....

Sounds like a racial slur.
