paulapuddephatt Says:

I prefer nah-deen, but nay-deen and na-deen are lovely, too. Nadine and Nadia are both beautiful, with a wonderful meaning. The one disadvantage for me is that there isn't one clear way to pronounce Nadine, or Nadia.

ToniCharissa Says:

Did you use it? I think Nora and Nadine are so beautiful together! My second born is named Nadine :)

ToniCharissa Says:

I named my second daughter Nadine (Nay-dine), and my oldest daughter, Vivienne, nn her Nina because at 1yo she couldn't pronounce Nadine. We call her by both names. I knew a woman with that name as a child, but fell in love with it while watching Free Willy 2 lol. I don't know why it's so unusual in the States, but I found out it's pretty popular in Sweden and a few other surrounding countries. When my Nadine was a baby, older women would get so excited when they learned her name, and tell me about their favorite aunts or grandmas.

Liberty Bell Says:

My late mothers name, she hated it when people pronounced it NAY dine.

nadinerobinson Says:

This is my name and, as others have expressed, I didn't like it as a kid as it was irregular. However, now as an adult I love it! Love that it's not so common. With the pronunciation, I pronounce it nah-deen (As in, rhyming with 'janine' - my parents' intention) but most people say nay-deen I find. It doesn't really bother me either way, but I know my mom hates it when people say it "wrong". I suppose that's the only downfall - two ways to pronounce the same name...

lesliemarion Says:

I picture a woman with a very tall beehive hairdo.

jroyston Says:

Thinking about using this name for my second girl. My first is named Nora. I don't know why it's not more popular... I find it to be a very pretty, strong name. What do you think?

Peyton Says:

My sisters name is Nadine and she really hates when people call her "nah-deen," although I understand why it's pronounced that way, I find "nay-dine" much prettier. It reminds me of a retro 1920s movie star. I may be biased. Haha

Toronto87 Says:

Just discovered Nadine and am in love! Adding it to my top 5 list. I would say it "nay-deen".

Daiseymae Says:

Nadine is my aunt's name, and I had a friend from France who went by Nah-dine. I like both pronunciations.

I loved this name as a kid! While I prefer other names these days, I still think Nadine is an excellent choice. It's outside of the top 1000, so not too popular, but still familiar. I imagine a girl named Nadine to be many thing: strong, brave, sweet, friendly, and smart.
