I like this name because it means "son of David," and my husband's name is David. "-son" names are good choices, if you like the idea of a namesake, but don't want a "Jr." because you feel people should have their own identity. This way, with Dawson for instance, I could have a David Jr. without having a David Jr. In addition, it sounds humble and down-to-earth.
