Gender: Male Meaning of Pascal: "of the Passover; Easter" Origin of Pascal: French; English

Pascal Origin and Meaning

The name Pascal is a boy's name of French, English origin meaning "of the Passover; Easter".

The French-accented Pascal was historically used for sons born at Easter, and can make an interesting choice for a boy with Gallic roots arriving around that holiday.

Pascal has a number of notable first and last named namesakes, including the philosopher Blaise Pascal, a character in Beauty and the Beast and--for computer freaks--it is also the name of a scientific database.

Pascoe is an attractive Cornish variation.

This strikes me as the name of a well-meaning sidekick in a story. In a good way. Not fully sure why.

I associate Pascal so much with physics classes and as a unit measurement for pressure that I was a little taken aback at meeting a Pascal IRL- for a brief moment, it was like meeting someone named Millimeter or Kilogram! :b Pascal is a handsome upright-sounding name though, and Blaise Pascal would be a nice namesake- though IMO Blaise sounds cooler.

I agree. It sounds very pretty. I love it! I think Pascale is the best spelling for a girl. I'm hoping I get to use it!

I love this name, but I always thought that, either way spelled, Pascal is more of a girl's name...
