Hermes is Arslan's cousin in the anime "Arslan Senki". He's also known as Lord Silver Mask, because he wears a silver face mask.

It's not a really bad name, it's actually okay! However, when I hear this name or see it I think of Uncle Jesse's real name on Full House. I do love that show, though.

I'd leave it to Mythology

My fashion-obsessed cousin has once said she wanted a mini-poodle; she'd name it Hermes and carry him around in a Hermes Kelly bag xD So that's what I think about in relation to the name Hermes. I think of it as a fancy, pretentious, expensive fashion name in general.

Oh okay. That's just how I was told to pronounce it. : )

That pronunciation is the French variation. The herpes sound-alike is much more common in English, not sure how closely it relates to the original Greek.

If it sounds like Herpes, you're pronouncing it wrong! Hermes is pronounced AIR-mez.

I like the mythological connection this name has.
...and if Hermes sounds like Herpes to you, then I will remind you about the fact that most people with this name don't have parents with english as their first language and don't use their freetime to philosophize around sexual infectious diseases. x3
