I really like this, it could also be a nice way to honor a relative named Delia or even Cordelia if you have one. I actually prefer this to regular Delia personally since it looks more "complete" to me for lack of a better word. Perhaps because of the association with the more common Cordelia, though I also prefer Adelia over Cordelia since it sounds a little softer and more gentle in tone. (Though note I still like all three, Adelia just happens to be my favorite variant)

MissAussie1992 Says:

I think it is like Celia, so it can be pronounced Ah-deel-ya or Ah-deel-ee-ah.

bananapancakes Says:

Should this be pronounced a-DEEL-ya like Amelia? Or ah-DEL-ee-ah like Adele Lia?

adadadad Says:

i love all of these names that start with ad but the nicknames would probably be addie or addy and that's my name so...

rosieflower Says:

EasterBunny Says:

I would pronounce it the same. Possibly separating the 'ia' a bit more, ah-DEEL-ee-ah, but I think that's just my accent.

cyoung325 Says:

I really like this name, but I'm not sure what the correct pronunciation is. I say ah-DEEL-ya but when I look it up I'm finding other more strained pronunciations. Why doesn't nameberry do pronunciations for all names instead of just a select few?

Adelia Says:

My name is Adelia too. I get so many compliments on it as well. I usually go by Addie, but have recently started using Adelia again. I'm named after my great grandmother, who apparently went by "Delia".

TammyJade Says:

I love love this name possible nickname leah

catcher5 Says:

We named our daughter Adelia, after her great-great grandmother. We call her Del when we want to shorten it. We get compliments on it ALL the time, but people usually have to ask how to spell it. Although we've met Adele's and Della's we've never encountered another Adelia, and I am a-okay with that.
