The most popular baby names 2022 in the US are led by Olivia in the top spot for girls and Liam as the #1 name for boys. The most recent list of popular names ranks all the names given to five or more newborns born in the US in 2022.

Along with Olivia, the Top 10 baby girl names 2022 in the US comprise Emma, Charlotte, Amelia, Ava, Sophia, Isabella, Mia, Evelyn, and Luna. Other popular girl names include Harper and Camila, Elizabeth and Eleanor.

Along with Liam, names ranking among the US Top 10 baby boy names 2022 are Noah, Oliver, Elijah, James, William, Benjamin, Lucas, Henry, and Theodore. Other popular boy names include Jack and Jackson, Alexander and Mateo.

The Social Security Administration list of popular baby names is released in May each year, based on statistics from the previous calendar year. The most recent list of Top 1000 names, published here, is therefore a count of names for babies born in the US in 2022.

Note that the SSA counts each spelling and variation as a separate name, so that some names with many popular variants rank much lower on the official list than you might think. Considering all spellings together, Jackson is actually the second most popular name for boys in the US and for girls, Sophia tops the list of American names.
