Along with Olivia, the Top 10 girl names in the US comprise Emma, Ava, Charlotte, Sophia, Amelia, Isabella, Evelyn and Harper.
Along with Liam, names ranking among the US Top 10 boy names are Noah, Oliver, Elijah, William, James, Benjamin, Lucas, Henry and Alexander.
Other most popular baby names 2020 include Ella and Mia for girls along with Jacob and Jack for boys.
The Social Security Administration list of popular baby names is released in May each year, based on statistics from the previous calendar year. The most recent list, published here, is therefore a count of names for babies born in the US in 2020.
The official list of popular names is a record of the names actually given to babies in the most recent full year. While it's extremely reliable in terms of gauging naming patterns and popularity in the past, the time lag makes it less valuable as a tool for predicting which baby names will become popular in the future.
