About Valley
An evocative word name, conjuring up images of the beautiful low land between hills and mountains, and the streams and rivers that often run through them, Valley has the advantage of also sounding totally name-y. Reminiscent of Ally, Valerie, Valentina, Tally, and Callie, it is a rising choice in the US, more than doubling in popularity in recent years.
Valley for girls#1131 US
It was given a huge boost after Kailyn Lowry (of Teen Mom fame) used it for her daughter in 2023, a twin sister to brother Verse, who both joined older sibs Isaac, Lincoln, Lux, Creed and Rio. The following year, it was given to 142 girls (and seven boys) compared to 69 girls the year prior. Additionally, to put its rise in perspective, just five years earlier it was given to less than 20 babies.
Valley for boys#11896 US
Powerful yet sweet, this evocative word name has been a fast rising choice in the 2020s, for girls, that is. Conjuring up images of mountains, hills, rivers and streams, Valley made its debut as a boy name in the US charts in 2024.
Given to seven boys (compared to 142 girls), Valley has the advantage of being a nature name with a similar sound to more established names, such as Valentine, Callan, Ali, and Wally, in turn, making it feel more grounded. Used by Kailyn Lowry (of Teen Mom fame) for her daughter in 2023, the name has now been exposed to a wider audience, which may lead to it climbing higher for boys too. In fact, Australian influencer Kayla Gane chose Valley Reid for her son, born in 2025.
Pronounced VAL-ee.
As of October 2026, Valley ranked #1131 in US births in 2025 SSA, peaked at #1128 in 1888.
