Renee5322 Says:

I mean, I get the appeal, but this doesn't age well at all in my opinion.

paisley2 Says:

Paisley is my name, I'm currently 24 years old. Was named after the town because of my family's Scottish roots. If I'm honest, I can actually understand all the hate 'Paisley' receives. I agree it is very cutesy, super-feminine, and probably suited me best as a 5-year-old lol. I'm also trying to start my career right now, and I'd be lying if I didn't feel a bit self-conscious of my name while submitting my resume for jobs. That being said, I still receive many compliments on my name, and I think it reflects my personality. It has definitely shot up in popularity since '95!

HalloweenGirl04 Says:

I love the name Paisley. Always have always will. I have a niece named Paisley Veronica Jane. And I have always thought Paisley was such a beautiful name. <3

oliviamcdonald Says:

I just discovered this name and I like it. Very similar to other Scottish names like Ainsley, Ashley, Tinsley etc. Looks like this name is the new Ashley in the US but it’s unheard of in my country. It’s a lot nicer than a lot of place names like Austin, Paris, etc. I personally wouldn’t use it as it’s too American now, but it’s hard to find a Scottish girls name that America hasn’t taken.

MadelineM Says:

I like the sound of it - but it does sound to much like a little girls name to me.

MadelineM Says:

You could try Ivy, Willow, Elodie, Evianna or Afton?

SparkleNinja18 Says:

It's just not a pleasant sound... but "aisl" sounds like nails on a chalkboard to me. Not a name I can picture on anyone over 3 years old.

SloaneSquare Says:

The town is hideous too

raefrank Says:

You know some 8 year old is going to look her name up on here, right? You don't have to be mean.
To the girls named Paisley who are looking up their name: There are far more people that love your name than there are judgmental people who post words like this.

Paisley Says:

I love this name! When I was born it wasn't even in the top 1,000 names. Please stop the hate on the name Paisley! My mom was trying to find a unique name and this name is awesome!

clairels Says:

I actually like the sound.

clairels Says:

At least it's spelled forwards, not backwards.

clairels Says:

Yikes. So much hate for a name that's really not worthy of it. These parents could be doing so much worse. Espn, Hashtag, Facebook, anyone?

Alicia1 Says:

Thank you! 2nd baby was named Ayla (eye-la) ow 3rd baby girl on the way. Struggling to find another cute modern name.

kittylover777 Says:

Maybe Laurel, Piper, Delaney or Chandler? I love Paisley too!

kittylover777 Says:

I absolutely love your name by the way. I am no where near having kids but I am a storywriter and I will be writing a story about a girl called Paisley.

Sorceress Says:

It is now high on my list. How opinions can change in two years.

arr! Says:

The meaning and redneck association aside, I can't stand sound of this and how it looks written down. It just... makes my toes curl up.

xhart Says:

Read my mind. It's a pattern not a name. Next people will be naming their kids zig zag, plaid and stripe. Ick.

momster82 Says:

Wow, there are far more negative comments than I expected! My name is Paisley and while I understand not everyone will like it I am still surprised. It is far more negative here than anything I've personally encountered. I am in my mid thirties and so up until recently most people on meeting me would comment that they had never heard it before.. And usually that they really liked it too! I'm sure not all of them were being genuine but given my names growing popularity I believe most of them were being sincere. I think my name ages well, or at least as well as names like Ashley, Lindsey, Kelly, or Emily. I never knew it meant church or cemetery and was raised knowing it was a City in Scotland and the name of the pattern created there. I am aware that people sometimes don't know what to expect when they learn my name before meeting me but it's never been an issue. I'm certainly not a redneck, I just don't understand that connection. It is surprisingly annoying how many people don't know how to spell Paisley. I don't really like how popular my name is right now either, mostly because I've learned to love having such a unique name. I will be a little sad when I meet another Paisley but I know it's only a matter of time as I've seen the name being used more and more over the past two years and I'm now hearing people say, "Oh, I know a little Paisley!" when they meet me. I do like my name but it was tough when I was younger with how out there it used to be. I miss that now. It doesn't have a lot of good nicknames but I do like Pais but nn never looks right written down which is a complaint. I hate all the horrible spelling people are using for Paisley though! I've seen Pasley Paizley Paislee Paisleigh...

actingfun Says:

Calm down. It's one thing to be passionate, but another thing to tell people not to procreate because of their name choices. I guarantee that someone hates some of your favorite names just as much as you hate this one. Does that mean that you shouldn't procreate? No. It simply means that a pattern of sounds is more appealing to you than it is to them.

thesaltypeach Says:

So ugly and redneck. Very popular in the south, with all the different spelling variations people come up with. It's just awful all around.

Fictionprincess Says:

This is one of the most hidious and puke-worthy type of names to have ever exsisted!! And the fact that this name is, not only within the charts, but within the top 100 is absolutely mindboggling. If people are seriously naming their child this left and right, I seriously question people's thought process, such as: did the mother decide to name her child this while she high on medication and wasn't thinking straight?
PLEASE STOP NAMING YOUR CHILD THIS!!! If you plan to name your child this, you're better off getting your tubes tied and not reproducing. Seriously.

TheSlothPrincess Says:

Agree with all the others saying they hate this name. It sounds super tacky to me.

RoddyThlayli Says:

I don't see anything trashy or silly about this name. In fact, I really like it. I may be biased by the fact that one of my mother's friends had a really nice dog named Paisley.

bythesea03 Says:

There are few names I absolutely despise, but this is one of them. I don't understand its popularity boom. Sickly "cute" and really not my taste/style at all.

Lola Says:

sounds like a sassy and mean popular girl. No offense to all those Paisleys out there, I'm sure you are all lovely people.

Plutophelia Says:

I have seen three baby Paisleys (w different spellings, including Paisleigh) on Maury. That should be a sign.

marythefourth Says:

I'm surprised this name isn't ranked higher in popularity. I know so many friends with little Paisley/Paizlee/Payzlie/Paislees. Very common name where I live. I'm not a fan of this one, and not just because it's popular.

Zelliew Says:

It sounds very bland to me. The meaning of "church cemetery isn't winning me over either

allisgee Says:

The pattern is cute, I'm sure the kid is too, but this name is just awful. It may be worse than Nevaeh. It won't age well and hopefully these little girls will go by their middles names when they're older.

Daiseymae Says:

I have only known one Paisley in my life, and she is 50-years-old now. She was quite popular and gorgeous, and she was a flight attendant for US Air back in the day.

Alicia1 Says:

Its my grandaughters name and I thnk is darling! In our area, people love it and compliment her on it all the time. Its not at all popular in our area and most people say they have never heard it before. Good luck with finding a name and congrats!

I bloody hate the way this name sounds.

Alicia1 Says:

Bummer! How about Presley, also super cute and not common?

Alicia1 Says:

This is my grandaughters name and we literally get oohs and aw's over it everyday. She is the only Paisley in our town. I LOVE this name so much! I gave my daughter a unique name 25 years ago and she gets compliments on it often. This is why she chose a unique name. Only problem is 2nd baby girl on the way and its tough to find another name we like!

Sorceress Says:

I absolutely love this name. However, my family has unanimously banned me from using this name due to the association with the fabric. They are not fond of the fabric.
