KaiLun Says:

True but Mai is also a Chinese word. If the description for this name said it means "Beautiful" or that it is pronounced "may," then I would agree that this name is actually spelled Mei but that's not what the description says

Boba_Buddy_Le Says:

Mei is Chinese and Japanese.

KaiLun Says:

Did nameberry used to say this name was pronounced like the month "May" or something? Otherwise, which language is this name spelled Mei? jw

KaiLun Says:

I don't know about other languages but in Chinese pinyin, your pronounciation is correct; it's pronounced like the pronoun "my." I don't think it means coyote in Mandarin though

Boba_Buddy_Le Says:

My cousin's name is Mai Ngoc (Ngoc being her middle name; we're Vietnamese). The proper pronounciation is "My" but sometimes me and my cousins will call her "May".

Boba_Buddy_Le Says:

Not in every country.

In my mind, this is pronounced like "my", not "may". It is still very pretty!

This name is actually spelled Mei.

mother_dragons Says:

This is my nn (my full name is Maite), but I never knew it was a name on its own. It's funny though, because coyotes are one of my favourite animals

This is also the month of May in German. Pretty!
