My dad grew up at Carlisle Lake in Saskatchewan and I've always thought it was a nice sounding name! I thought I was being original when I thought of it as a name for a baby boy, turns out it's huge because of twilight...still I think it's very handsome, and a fun way to honour my dad!

I do like this name, but I feel like a lot of people would pronounce it wrong.

I honestly had no idea there was a Carlisle in Twilight.

I love it, nevertheless.

I really like the name Carlisle! It sounds very smart and put-together, reminds me of the jazz age and seems film-noir-esque to me. I can see the name aging well from little boy to grown man too.

Of course the main association with it would be Twilight, but I think it's a great name regardless, and if one likes the name that much they should really go for it! The association would fade eventually. Carlyle would have less of a tie-in to the books/movies, since they used the spelling Carlisle. I think both spellings are equally nice (Carlyle having more of the feeling of being a first name, versus Carlisle still retaining that preppy surname-name vibe), and the nicknames Carl and Lyle/Lisle are adorably charming.
