      "rhythm, beat"
    • Description:

      The musical word name Cadence, seemed to come out of nowhere to zoom up the charts; it rose over 700 spots between 2002 and 2004, and showed up in the Top 200 in 2007. It's gone down in the popular names list since then, though. Some might see it as a feminine relative of the popular Caden. Kadence and Kaydence are also rising.
  5. Temperance

    • Description:

      Not too long ago, Temperance was found only on lists of Puritan baby names.
  6. Epiphany
    • Origin:

      Word name, Greek
    • Meaning:

      "manifestation, striking appearance"
    • Description:

      Spiritual in multiple senses of the word, Epiphany has been given to a handful of girls since the late 1980s, peaking in 1988 when it was given to 55 babies, following the release of the movie Angel Heart in 1987, which featured a character of the name, played by Lisa Bonet.
  7. Poem
    • Origin:

      Literary name, English word name
    • Meaning:

      "a composition in verse"
    • Description:

      A handful of baby girls were named Poem in the US in the most recent year, along with Poet and Poetry. But of course, these word names can work for boys too.

      English word name
    • Meaning:

      "antiquity"
    • Description:

      Your daughter will like this better at twenty than she will at fifty.
