About Marsden
A surname-style choice that could work as an alternative to Marshall, Mason, or Arden. A topographical name referring to someone who lived near the boundary of a valley, it could lead to nickname 'Mars'.
Marsden for boys#8020 US
Appearing sporadically and quietly in the US stats since 1914, it was given to 10 boys in a recent year. The name had its (current) peak back in 2013, when 20 babies were given the name, possibly owing to actor James Marsden appearing in several films at the time.
Marsden for girls
A surname-style choice that could work as an alternative to Madison, Marceline, Arden, and Eden, Marsden is a topographical name referring to someone who lived near the boundary of a valley. While it has only appeared in the US stats for boys as yet, it has notably been used by content creator and podcaster Amala Ekpunobi for her daughter in 2026 – and it isn't impossible to imagine other parents following the same idea.
Nicknames Mars and Marcy might work too.
Pronounced MARS-dun.
As of October 2026, Marsden ranked #8020 in US births in 2025 SSA, peaked at #2928 in 1930.
