About this list

The most common Millennial (and "Zillennial") names — names given to babies born between the years 1982 and 2004 — are Jessica, Ashley, and Amanda for girls, and Michael, Christopher, and Matthew for boys.

Millennial names led the way for naming styles today. Parents of millennial babies, with access to books like the groundbreaking Beyond Jennifer & Jason by Nameberry's founders, began choosing names outside of the Top 100.

Millennial babies were also given names that challenged gender norms — especially for girls. These include Ashley, Taylor, Madison, and Morgan, which previously were used mainly for boys.

Millennial names that are still popular today include many classics on the boys side, such as Michael, Daniel, and James, as well as girls' names Madison, Olivia, Hannah, and Grace.

Names most popular for millennials are listed here in order of their current ranking among Nameberry's users.
