Name Your Ideal Family!
The theme of the week has been popular names — Nameberry’s most popular choices for the first half of the year.
To keep the party going, we thought we’d round off the publication of the three lists — our top 100 girls’ names, top 100 boys’ names, and top 20 unisex names — by asking you to create your perfect and perfectly-named family using your favorite names from the three lists.
If you’re feeling really ambitious, include middle names, but only from our 2013 most-popular lists!
Have fun. We can’t wait to see what you come up with.
Commission artist Jordan Grace Owens to create a customized set of paper dolls like the ones pictured here based on your family. So fabulous!!

In California, Pearl Harrison finally married her partner of ten years, Frances Gray. They have changed their surname to Harrison-Gray. Their adopted four-year-old son Callum will also use the new last name. (Pearl Harrison-Gray, Frances Harrison-Gray, and Callum Harrison-Gray)

Sounds challenging! I will try and imagine my ideal family by the time I am thirty(I changed my name too):
Mother and wife: Isla Emmeline (30)
Father and husband: Jack Nathaniel (31)
First son: David Ezra “Dave” (11)
First daughter: Chloe Georgia (9,5)
Second and third daughters(twins): Ivy Evangeline and Jane Seraphina (3)
Second son: Adam Gabriel (2)
Third son: Jasper Alexander “Jay”(newborn)
Isla and Jack with Dave, Chloe, Ivy, Jane, Adam and Jasper 🙂

That’s pretty hard, as we only look at A names at the moment, but I think it’ll be like this. Probably on or two adopted. But this is how my perfect family would look like.
Mommies: Lyra Elizabeth & Sofie
First daughter: Aurora Sage *Rora* – 7
First son: Arthur Stellan *Art* – 5
Second son: Avery Flynn – 3
Second daughter: Aurella Iris *Ella* – newest addition

Loving these! Makes me think we maybe really only need 220 names on Nameberry? ; )
on July 11th, 2013 at 5:51 am
Jane Louisa–(very close to Jane Louise, one of my top choices)
Nathan William–(another top choice)
Benjamin Miles–(prefer Benjamin Marshall or Benjamin Stephen, but not bad.)
Charlotte Beatrice–(both nice names, but I would rather use others on my child.)
These are good names, but I’m glad I’m not limited to them in real life.

I could have two families, one for each side of my personality, however I’m going through what I call a “hippy kick,” loving names that appeal to the earth, making me think of grounded children who practice yoga with me and plant gardens and wear cut offs and bangles. This in opposition to my usual collection of casually British babies,
River, Olive, Phoebe, Rose, Eli & Leo sound just about perfect to me right now.
on July 11th, 2013 at 7:01 am
My Brit babes were feeling neglected, so here’s my second family, all of them in dresses or sweater vests, slicked back hair and rolled up sleeves, reading in gardens, swimming on a team, gaining culture through study,
Beatrix, Elizabeth, Rose, Imogen, Henry, Jonah & Gideon.
I am sure when it comes time half my children will be Olive’s, Indigo’s and River’s, the other half Henry’s, Beatrix’s and Gwendolyn’s. Aferall, I yoga, but hate to garden, will swim in anything wet just for the fun of it and read voraciously for intellectual and cultural stimulation.
I doubt I’ll ever be able to create a true “perfect” family of names.

Archer Cole is actually the name we plan on using for my soon to be son! 🙂 Roman Connor was our second pick, but couldn’t add it below because Connors not on the list <3 I think these lists capture my absolute favorites though, like all of them <3 I'm okay with that 🙂
Mabel Caroline / Maisie Caroline (not sure which I'd use and can't be siblings!)
Elodie Hazel / Eleanor Violet (same as Mabel / Maisie, love both but can't decide!)

I have two lists, and I would probably choose either one or the other.
I wouldn’t have that many kids, of course!
on July 11th, 2013 at 1:03 pm
My 3 kids are Rose, Henry & George.
George even has the middle name Frederick. I ‘changed’ Rose’s middle name from one on the list. Henry’s middle isn’t on the list.
And I would definitely use Jane Beatrice for an imaginary second daughter.
on July 11th, 2013 at 1:05 pm
I already have a daughter – Sawyer Madelyn – both names are on a list although my Madelyn is spelled differently.
I’d love to have three kids, whether it be two boys and a girl, two girls and a boy, or three girls. Doesn’t matter! But it will all depend on the scenario as well!
If I had twin boys, they would be:
If I had two boys, separately:
If I had twin girls, they would be:
(all girl’s middle names have to start with an M)
If I had two girls separately:
If I had boy/girl twins, they would be:
If I had a boy and a girl, separately:
There’s something I like about twins starting with the same letter. My favorite twin boys are Deacon & Duke, but nowhere to be found! That’s okay!

Well, My SO has a daughter can I can’t leave her off, though one of her classic names isn’t on the list.
So along with Elizabeth Catherine, I’d like to have 3 kids, preferably at least one adopted:

I love all the names.
I really like these names. (Especially the firsts) If it was real I would change Quinn, Marlowe to Marlow, and Leo.
on July 11th, 2013 at 9:33 pm
There are lots of names I like, but it’s really important to my husband and me to use family names. Our daughter is Cates Margaret, after two great-grandmothers. We’re not having another baby anytime soon, but we’re the kind of people who need to think about names way ahead of time. This is what we have for a potential next baby:
And just for fun, if potential next baby turned out to be two babies:
Neither of our girl names are exact family names – Josephine would be after my great-grandfather Joseph, Anneliese after my mother Anna – but I think they’re close enough. We pretty much exhausted all the exact family names for girls that we could agree on with our daughter!

A dream family to me would be a close aged group of five kids (with a set of twins, possibly the second and third boy or the third boy and first girl) and a singleton baby when the first five are a bit older, though I’m not sure which I’d prefer for the late baby so I’ll add both… I don’t know why exactly but I always liked that. Although, realistically my family would look nothing like that!

This game makes me wanna make some babies just to name them! Haha! So happy with these results:) I chose three boys and three girls; not sure this is actually what I would have but it’s a distinct possibility. If I sounded them out all correctly, they are all five syllables. All of the girls are on the more feminine side, and flow well to me. The boys (I liked too many so had to narrow it down with a theme) are somewhat cowboy-ish in the first name and Biblical/trendy middles.
1. Seraphina Pearl
2. Everly Hazel
3. Esme Arabella
1. Beckett Elijah
2. Gideon Levi
3. Stellan Emerson
