What a fun way to start the new year! I see two clear themes emerging. First, the sound “ee” for girls. A full half contain this sound—some with multiples! (Ophelia, Cordelia, and Calliope, I’m looking at you). Then on the boys side, the sibilant “s,” “z,” and “x” (23 of the 50). The rule of thumb is, put the z sounds at the front of the name, and the s’s at the end.

Thanks for this glimpse into what baby names 2019 will bring.

I like your analysis, @vivi_simone! It’s always fun to see which names emerge from the statistics. Some (Elsie, Wren, Cassian, Maverick) are predictable but many are real surprises. Personally, if I had to name a baby from only this pool of 100 names, I could be very happy.

Theodore or Ezra. I’m surprised that Oliver is not on the list

On the one hand I’m sad because a lot of my faves are on this list and I don’t want them to be too popular, on the other hand I’m flattered and feel like I have good taste LOL
