Stijn Origin and Meaning

The name Stijn is a boy's name of Dutch origin.

As you may surmise from its origins as a short form for Constantijn and Augustijn, Stijn rhymes with nine and fine, though most English-speakers wouldn't guess that. A popular name in the Netherlands that's obscure elsewhere, for reasons undoubtedly connected to its spelling and pronunciation issues.

I'm Dutch and Stijn doesn't rhyme with rain or plain. It rhymes with 'fine', 'mine' and 'shine'.

I will admit to having no knowledge of Dutch or German, but there are different dialects in most (if not all) languages, as grzebra said. Both stine and stain could equally correct. Either way, there's no need to be rude about it.

The name Stijn does not rhyme with "stain", except in certain dialects. It rhymes with pine or shine. It is the same as the German name Stein.
