The funny thing is, despite your warnings, nameberry, the only people who seem to judge these sorts of 'hippie' names are not the bearers, but rather you WASPish bourgeois types. Of all the 'outlandish-ly' named people, very few feel in any way adverse to their name. Proportionally, more of my 'normal-named' friends object to their name, I know I would hate to be an Emily F, a Sophie C.

In reference to it being a 'Hippie' name, and what? Why is nameberry so insistent on straight-laced middle America or acceptable hipster names? Times and names are evolving.

I'm neutral on this name. One of my neighbors has a dog named Rainbow, and that Rainbow's a boy.

I can picture an adult with this name, but only one kind of adult; the old lady with the earrings and the colourful patchwork skirt. I would not recommend using it for a child at all as it absolutely doesn't work for all types of people or in business.

Nickname ONLY,in my opinion. A grown up women wearing this name is weird. It would be rude. A fun nickname for Raina, like at home. But a real name? No.
