Christielea Says:

I love this name. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to talk my husband into it so far! He thinks it sounds silly.

sirens_sam Says:

My 1 yr old is named Melody, we call her Ellie. The name suits her, I cant think of any other name that would be better for her. Its funny because I passed this name multiple times, always thought it was pretty but never thought it was THE name until I was 8 months pregnant and ran across it AGAIN. Suggested it to DH and got an instant yes.

Cheyenne Thornton Says:

It’s just commonly used for women.

Daiseymae Says:

Very pretty name.

connor Says:

Why is this name for females only?

meggyweg Says:

But how often do English speakers actually use the word "malady" anymore? Where I'm from, anyway, it's a very old-fashioned word and hardly ever used except sometimes in books.

AmadeusMozart Says:

Actually, English has the same word, just with the anglicized spelling "malady." So as a native English speaker, I would avoid this name for the same reason.

hermioneameliastyles Says:

Melody is a Disney name that no one would know is a Disney name. I like the name and think it could work on any little girl. It's so cute.

meaganegibson Says:

I have a friend named Jenna Melody and I absolutely love her name!

QuxxnAphrosephone Says:

This sounds pretty, but my first language is French and it's way too close to "maladie" which means "disease" for me. I guess if you stay in the English speaking world then it wouldn't be a problem, but it just screams disease to me.

Jessica Says:

I find Melody particularly sweet without truly applying to any time period instinctively in your mind. Pretty choice as a middle name.

scblovesnames Says:

I've been ignoring this. It's not instantly "yes" but it's not a no. I like it.

Swangirl Says:

This name will always be beautiful.

Theodora_Phoenix Says:

I really want to like this name, but it's just too popular now. However, I can totally see the appeal.

Giinkies Says:

This fits the musical name trend atm with names like Cadence and Aria. I think Melody fits right in. Plus it's been in use for so long that it fits the trendy but is a bit less trendy.

cheyenne_melody123 Says:

Having this as a middle name, I might be a little bit biased, but I truly love the way it looks and sounds!

jordalini Says:

When I was little I really loved this name after the second little mermaid movie
