Gabrielle is an awesome character on Xena: Warrior Princess. So if I ever used it, it would be as a middle name in tribute to her :)

Fictionprincess Says:

Gabrielle is SUCH a gorgeous name and I prefer it to Gabriella even though I find that name to be decent as well.

fromtheocean12 Says:

Love the name Gabrielle, hate the nickname Gabby.

Gabrielle Doiron Says:

My name is Gabrielle, and it's always been a love-hate relationship with my name. Some days I adore my name because of its elegance, but other days I despise it because it seems almost childish. I, personally, don't mind the nickname Gabby, but I much prefer Gabs.

Gabrielle Jones Says:

I am a 12 year-old Gabrielle and I am often complimented for my name. But, I dislike the common nickname "Gabby" because it means talkative.

RoddyThlayli Says:

I wouldn't use the name Gabrielle for my child (not a huge fan of -ielle/-brielle ending names) but I don't dislike it. Same with Gabriel. I'll always associate it with the tv show Xena: Warrior Princess, which isn't necessarily bad, considering that Gabrielle is actually a pretty cool character.

headintheclouds Says:

I love Gabriel but not so much for its female counterpart Gabrielle. It's the different way they're pronounced, the GAHB- sound in Gabrielle and the nickname Gabby that makes me think of a (real life association) very chatty and inane gabby girl called Gabby. But when I think of Gabrielle with the nickname Abrie/Abie or Bree/Brielle, with more emphasis on the later syllables of the name, it actually grows on me more and more.
