Enos Origin and Meaning

The name Enos is a boy's name of Hebrew origin meaning "mankind".

A thundering biblical name - belonging to a grandson of Adam and Eve, also known as Enosh - that hasn't made as much of a comeback as similar Enoch. Enos is also a book in the Book of Mormon, and the name of the first chimpanzee to go into orbit. Caution: depending on your accent, it could have one or two unfortunate rhymes.

I don't know why but when I heard this name I completely fell in love with it! But, it is very unheard of, so I think it could be an issue for the child in having to spell out his name all of the time so I don't think I'd use it as a first name. which is really sad, as I love it so much!
Also, it is pronounced EE-nos, not EE-knock, as nameberry has suggested here, it does not rhyme with a male body part. If that's all that will be put on the name info, at least get it right nameberry...
