Leticia

Playful but elegant with a cheerful meaning, Leticia is the Spanish form of the English Letitia and the Latin Laetitia. Popular in Brazil, Portugal, and Hungary, and a familiar choice in Spain, it has also made the Top 1000 in the US and the UK in the past.

With nickname Lettie and with the substring tic in the middle, Leticia may also appeal to English speakers looking for full names for the vintage nickname, and who want to avoid any teasing potential from the English spelling. Pronounced as leh-TEE-thya in European Spanish and as leh-TEE-sya in Latin America, it might also be said as leh-TEE-see-uh in English.

Celebrated in Spain, most notably in the Aragon region, St. Leticia is an obscure martyr, who gained renewed interest in 2004 when Letizia Ortiz married Felipe VI of Spain.

Pronounced le-TEE-sha.

As of October 2026, Leticia ranked #1707 in US births in 2025 SSA, peaked at #232 in 1976.
