Dream

A whimsical and serene feeling word name, bestowed to reflect the joy and perfection parents might find in their children and the ambitions they have for them. Once a fantastical and celebrity-only feeling option, Dream came into popular usage after Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna chose it for their daughter in 2016.

Around ten times more popular than it was a decade ago, Dream was given to 846 girls — and 64 boys — in a recent year, placing it in the US Top 400, where it ranks alongside Azalea and Sunny. In the Top 1000 since 2017, it has since been joined by spelling variation Jream, given to more than 700 babies in a recent year.

If you love the idea of Dream but want something a little more grounded, the Irish name Aisling (or Aislinn, Ashlyn, or Ashling) also means "dream" or "vision", while Nadia and Nadine meaning "hope". If you like the dreaminess but not the popularity, there's Winsome, Whimsy, and Moon.

Pronounced DREEM.

As of October 2026, Dream ranked #432 in US births in 2025 SSA, peaked at #336 in 2022, Nameberry popularity #133.
