About Lacy
Back in the day, Lacy used to be available to boys as well, ranking in the US charts for boys right up until the 1960s. Its peak was in 1900 when it made the Top 400, while 1924 saw it given to the greatest number of boys — 125 — when it ranked alongside Kelly and McKinley. While it is typically considered a surname-style name, taken from the name of a town in Normandy, it could also be viewed as a diminutive of Wallace ("Welshman").
