Flower

Florence, Flora, and a whole plethora of botanical names are in style at the moment, but simple Flower remains rare. Perhaps it's the association with the little skunk in Bambi, or because it rhymes with flour used for cooking, but with Clover and Meadow in the charts, perhaps Flower might be one to reconsider.

While we'd suggest going for a single bloom, with rarer options being Amaryllis, Bluebell, and Tansy, Flower does have a charming, hippie, and free-spirited feel. Plus, only six girls were given the name in a recent year, making it even rarer than Sunflower (chosen for 11).
Flower was borne by a memorable meerkat, leader of the Whiskers clan in the documentary, Meerkat Manor, while fictional Flowers include the aforementioned Disney skunk, along with a character in the 1914 book Flower o' the Pine by Ethel Turner.

Pronounced FLOW-er.

As of October 2026, Flower ranked #10370 in US births in 2025 SSA, peaked at #9196 in 1974.
