New Babyberries Announced in August

New Babyberries Announced in August

By Linda Rosenkrantz

The boys have it this month on Nameberry, with male births far outnumbering the girl baby announcements in August.

In this crop of August baby names we had two pairs of boy twins, the handsomely named Cruz Patrick and Kane Fredrick, and Declan Zurich Rhodes and Phineas Keegan. Especially love Zurich as a new place name middle idea (with a nice story behind it.)

GIRLS

Delphine Marie, sister of Margot Nathalie

“Like Margot, we chose Delphine’s first name because we loved the sound of it and liked that it was not too poplar but not unheard of….a middle name shared by my mother, sister and I. We love pairing common middles that honor family with unique firsts.”

Kalila Adessia, sister of Sebastian Miguel

…the lovely Adessia in honor of the sweet city Odessa where the hubby and I first met.”

Orla Phoebe

Siena Jane

Stella Josephine, sister of Arden Theodore

Sylvie Rhea, sister of Tessa Karen, Theo William and Sloane Marianna

“My husband and I both love camping. In fact, we hope to own a campground some day. Sylvie means “of the forest” and we loved the meaning behind the name. I also had a great-grandfather Sylvester, so I like that it honors him in a way.”

Tallulah Dorothy, sister of Bugsy William and Jem Richmond

“In the end my mother’s suggestion of Tallulah won, because we wanted an interesting and not hugely common longer name for the nickname Lou, which will be what she is known as except of course when she’s in trouble!”

Vivienne Grace, sister of Harrison and Leo

“This spelling was chosen because I like how it looks more feminine. Her middle name is after my great great grandmother.”

BOYS

Alistair Hugo, brother of Aurora Tempest

August Patrick

“We picked the name August two years ago. Little did we know he would actually be born in the month of August. We…loved the NN possibilities that come…in the form of Auggie or Gus, and knowing I didn’t want to fight a long battle of people calling him something I didn’t like. I chose a name that I liked all the NN possibilities!”

Colin Amory Hugh

Cruz Patrick, twin brother of Kane Fredrick

I am in love with their names because they share the same sound but have their own initials.”

Declan Zurich Rhodes, twin of Phineas Keegan and brother of ElizabethElizaRemington

His name honors my husband’s Irish heritage. Zurich is after the city where my husband and I met. Rhodes is what we thought we were going to name Declan, so we moved it to his middle.”

Emmett Alan

“I wanted something traditional but not too popular and Hubby wanted trendy and cool. I think we found the perfect combination with Emmett. I love that it also has a western rodeo feel but could also be your barrister.”

Felix Sebastian, brother of Blythe Alexander

I’m not usually one for deciding names based on meaning but I love the shared ‘happy meaning between Felix and Blythe. It is a little more popular than I wanted but loving the name was more important. Sebastian is a name that I have loved since I was a child and am very happy to get the opportunity to use it.”

Grayson Maxwell James

Holden Miles, brother of Everett and Lochlan

Kane Fredrick, twin brother of Cruz Patrick

Leonardo Callen, brother of Roxanne Alice

Maxime Alexander Cyril

“We eventually opted for Maxime as a reference to my French origins and to my husband’s German ones (it’s spelled differently but pronounced the same in both languages), Alexander because my husband loved it and Cyril to one of my most beloved friends who sadly died before his time.”

Owen Patrick

We picked Owen because it was his dad’s favorite name and one of my top five. Patrick is a family name on both sides so it worked perfectly.”

Phineas Keegan, twin of Declan Zurich Rhodes, brother of Eliza Remington

Phineas is the name of my husband’s best friend, and the boys were born on his birthday, so my husband suggested it and it clicked. Keegan is my husband’s name and I wanted at least one of them to have their father’s name.”

Simon George, brother of Henry Marion

We were thinking of Simon Lucas, but as I’m a Simon Lucas Baker fan that might have been too obvious.”

What’s your favorite name? First and middle combo? SIbset?
