Though Peyton remains extremely popular for both boys and girls, Payton as a boys name has started to fall out of favor. It was in the Top 300 from 2000 to 2008, but has now fallen in the charts.

While the Peyton spelling is used more equally for both sexes, Payton is much favored by parents of girls.
