Name her Harvest, a rich, strong name if ever there was one, and call her Vesta or Essie! Vesta is a strong goddess name and Essie is just plain cute.

It actually has a nice sound, and strong mythological roots. The main issue is that a vest is an item of clothing. Still, the description for this name is more dismissive than it deserves. There are certainly worse names.

Thank you for a possible explanation, a very interesting one at that!

Possibly not recommended because of the "Vestal Virgins" of ancient Rome. These were 6 girls who were dedicated to remain chaste. They had the honor of keeping the sacred fires of the hearth burning. The hearth fires were sacred to women because a woman's place was in the home, at the hearth; an idea which has become less popular in recent times. Ironically, because of their position they had high status as some of the city's most senior religious leaders.

Like all the others, why isn't this recommended? It's not my style, but nothing seems wrong with the name.

Vesta is adorable...not sure why it isn't recommended unless it's because it sounds sort of like Vespa.

Another pointless, stupid comment from the writers. What's wrong with Vesta?

I like Hestia, the Greek version, better, but I don't see anything bad about Vesta.
