My name! I used to hate it because I didn't think I suited it and my face is naturally quite red so I get "Scarlet's gone scarlet!" A lot which is neither clever or funny anymore. If you're thinking of naming your child this variation it will ALWAYS get misspelt with the extra 't', so perhaps that variation is better in that way, but I also feel that this spelling makes the name more unique to me. I've met 4 Scarlett's but have never met another Scarlet, and I suppose in the long term they're all the same, but I do feel special. I love my name now, though I used to hate it. I love that it's a colour as I love art and the meanings behind colours in culture, I love the nickname Lottie/Lettie, I love that it's feminine and sweet sounding, and although I dislike it's recent popularity, it has given me confidence in that it IS a great name! I was named after Scarlet from Four Weddings and a Funeral, and Captain Scarlet too

I didn't used to be a fan of this name, but I'm starting to love it. Even though I love "Gone with the Wind", book and movie, I think I actually prefer this spelling. I love Scarlett too, but Scarlet is perfection. I love the colour, so I guess that's why.

That's what I've always said! Glad you agree.

IvyTheRoserade Says:

Scarlet is much better than Scarlett!! I mean, why add the extra "t"? Plus it stays to the original meaning, which is the color.

Although I prefer this spelling of the name, my mind keeps bringing me back to 'The Scarlet Letter' and all the symbolization's of the red.
